-The benefits of being grateful-

Things are a little difficult for a lot of us at the moment. For some people it might be a little difficult to be grateful for what we already have. It is really easy for us to dwell on our issues during difficult times. But being grateful during difficult times has really good benefits for our soul and sanity.

The first thing I do every single morning when I wake up is give thanks for being alive, I am grateful for another day of life, for my son, my mom, my school, work, and friends and family.

Not only does it make me feel better, it makes me appreciate those things and people even more and it makes me feel protected.

The best thing for me about it is that it takes my mind away from the horrible things I might be going through. Even though I might be going through a difficult time, I also have wonderful things to look forward to. For me, waking up healthy is enough and I make sure I let the universe know every single day how grateful I am.

Some benefits of being grateful

May reduce depression

May lower blood pressure

May increase happiness

May increase energy

May increase psychological well-being (increase self-esteem)

May enhance positive emotions (we think about what we have, instead of what we don’t)

May reduce any suicidal thoughts

May improve our friendship and relationship with those we love

May make us more optimistic

May increase our spiritualism

May make us more giving and less needy

May helps us find meaning in our jobs, in what we enjoy doing

May help us be less materialistic

These are just some of the wonderful benefits of being grateful and I can definitely say I have experience most of these myself practicing gratitude. I believe that it has made me less self-centered and it has allowed me to truly appreciate the people and things I have in my life. Instead of being sad about what we don’t have, we should practice being grateful for what we already have. Enjoy it!

I also believe that it has made me more self-aware. Acknowledging what I already have makes me not only grateful for what I have, but it makes me notice what I don’t have and I can work on it.
